Long, Tall Cowboy Christmas (Happy, Texas) by Carolyn Brown
This is Nash Lamont and Kasey Dawson’s story.

I enjoyed Nash and Kasey’s story. Nash and Kasey are both dealing with loss and heartache. Kasey’s children would a great addition to the story. This was a really sweet and heartwarming romance with great chemistry. It was fun watching Nash and Kasey heal and take a chance on love.

LONG, TALL COWBOY CHRISTMAS by Carolyn Brown

Teaser Excerpt Blitz

LONG, TALL COBWOY CHRISTMAS by Carolyn Brown (September 26, 2017; Forever Mass Market; $7.99; Happy, Texas Series Book 2)

A heartwarming holiday read from USA Today bestselling author Carolyn Brown

Nash Lamont is a man about as solitary as they come. That’s exactly why ranch life in middle-of-nowhere Happy, Texas suits him. So what the heck is he doing letting a beautiful widow and her three rambunctious children temporarily move in? Before he knows it, they’re stringing Christmas lights and decorating the tree… and he’s having the time of his life. But after everything he’s been through, Nash knows this kind of happiness doesn’t last.

Kasey Dawson thought she’d never get over the death of her husband. Nash, with his strong hands and infinite patience, is stirring something she hasn’t felt in a long time. Kasey knows the sexy cowboy isn’t telling her everything about this past, though. And she refuses to risk heartbreak all over again. But her kids have a plan of their own: Nothing will keep them from having a real family again-even if it takes a little help from Santa himself.

“Genuinely sweet.” —Publishers Weekly

Blog Tour

Brody sang along with the radio the whole way back to Hope Springs. Seeing Lila again brought back so many memories. Nothing had been the same after she’d left town. Happy, Texas, didn’t have a movie theater or a bowling alley or even a Dairy Queen, so they’d had to drive all the way to Tulia or Amarillo to have fun. Or they would stay in town and Lila would come up with some kind of crazy stunt that sent their adrenaline into high gear.

Like surfing in the back of my old pickup truck. It’s a wonder we weren’t all killed but the adrenaline rush was crazy wild. He chuckled as he remembered the two of them planting their feet on skateboards in the bed of the truck and then giving Jace the thumbs-up to take off. No big ocean waves could have been as exhilarating as riding on skateboards while Jace drove eighty miles an hour down a dirt road.

Blake Shelton’s “Boys ’Round Here” came on the radio and he turned up the volume. He rolled down the window, letting the hot air blow past him as he pushed the gas pedal to the floor.

Seventy miles an hour, the dust kicking up behind the truck just like the song said. At seventy-five, he checked the rearview and imagined that Lila was back there wearing a pair of cutoff denim shorts, cowboy boots, and a tank top that hugged her body like a glove. Her jet- black ponytail was flying out behind her, and that tall, well-toned curvy body kept balance on the imaginary skateboard every bit as well as it had back then.

At eighty, he tapped the brakes enough to make a sliding right-hand turn from the highway to the lane back to the ranch house. The house was a blur when he blew past it and the speedometer said he was going ninety miles an hour when he braked and came to a long greasy stop in front of the barn doors. Gravel pinged against the sheet metal and dust settled on everything inside his truck’s crew cab. He sucked in a lungful of it but it did nothing to slow down his racing heart, thumping hard enough to bust a rib. Gripping the steering wheel so tightly that his forearms ached, he checked the rearview mirror. The vision of Lila was gone, leaving only a cloud of dust in its wake.

You’re not eighteen, Brody Dawson. The voice in his head even had the same tone and inflection as his mother’s did. You’re a responsible rancher, not a kid who drives like a maniac with the music blaring loud enough they can hear it in Amarillo.

Blame it on Lila. She brought out the wild side in me back before I had to handle all the ranchin’ business, he argued, and felt a sudden rush of shame because he hadn’t stood up for her in those days. Then he had time and opportunities; now he barely had time for a glass of tea with all the sticky situations of Hope Springs falling on his shoulders.

His phone pinged with another text: Sundance is in a mud bog out on the north forty. Need help. Bring rope. Where the hell are you?

Just as he was about to get moving, his grandmother stepped out of the barn and made her way to his truck, shielding her green eyes against the hot afternoon sun. Gray haired and barely tall enough to reach Brody’s shoulder, she might look like a sweet little grandmother to strangers, but looks were definitely deceiving when it came to Hope Dalley. She had a backbone of steel and no- body messed with her.

“Did someone die? I heard you driving like a bat set loose from the bowels of hell. I bet you wore a year’s worth of rubber off them tires the way you skidded to a stop.”

“Everything is fine, but Sundance is in a mud lolly, so I’ve got to get some rope and go help Jace,” Brody said.

“Damned old bull. He got bad blood from his father when it comes to breakin’ out of pens, but he’s a damn fine breeder so we have to deal with his ornery ways,” Hope said. “I’ll go with you and help.”

“We can get it done, Granny. What are you doin’ out here in this hot sun anyway?”

“Bossin’ the boys about how to stack the hay. I can’t just sit around in an air-conditioned house and do nothin’. I’d die of boredom,” she said.

“Long as you’re supervisin’ and not stackin’, that’s fine, but I’d rather see you in the house with Kasey and the kids,” he said.

“I’m not ready to be put out to pasture yet, boy. Kasey don’t need my help. She has the toughest job on the ranch, taking care of those three kids as well as all the household stuff and the book work. That’s a hell of a lot more exhausting and tougher than stacking hay. And she’s doin’ a fine job of it. Now go take care of that blasted bull.” She waved him away.

Fun and excitement were over. It was time to man up and not expect to relive the glory days when Lila had lived in Happy and everything had been fun and exciting.

Toughest Cowboy in Texas
Toughest Cowboy in Texas by Carolyn Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Toughest Cowboy in Texas by Carolyn Brown is book number one in the Happy, Texas series. This is Lila Harris and Brody Dawson’s story.

I love Carolyn Brown’s stories. You feel as if you are there. Many years ago I lived near Happy, Texas. It was like taking a trip back to Texas. Put Brody, hot cowboy, and wild child Lila together then you get a hot and steamy romance.

Brody’s mom and grandmother have always felt that Lila isn’t good enough for him. It’s been years since they graduated from high but Brody still feels guilty for not standing up for Lila. Would Lila give him a second chance? Does he have time for a relationship with his responsibilities to the ranch?

Reading Carolyn Brown’s book make me smile. They are a great blend of humor, sexy romance, and small towns in Texas. A great start to the Happy, Texas series.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Excerpt

She picked up her pace, but Brody matched his long strides with hers.
“Don’t feel like you have to walk me my vehicle. I’m a big girl and I’ve been takin’ care of myself for years.”
“You’ve always been able to take care of yourself, Lila, but I want to walk with you.” His hand went to her lower back.
The intense heat would probably leave an imprint on her back for days, but she didn’t argue or shrug his hand away.
When they reached her bright pink truck, he gave a low whistle. “Nice.”
She found her keys and touched a button that started the engine. “I left the motorcycle at home.”
“Oh, really?” His expression said that he didn’t believe her.
“Yep, I didn’t want to get to the bar and have helmet head.”
“Are you serious?”
“Why would you be so surprised? I am, after all, the resident wild child of Happy, Texas. I’m surprised there’s not a picture of me beside the city limits sign warning everyone to steer clear of that Lila Harris. If you rub shoulders with her, you get an instant ticket to hell. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. Just get ready for the ride.”
“Motorcycles are dangerous. You shouldn’t…”
She laid a finger over his lips. “When we were back in high school, I stayed on that bull for eight seconds and climbed to the top of the water tower. You didn’t fuss at me about those things, but wait—you were right there too. Well, darlin’, buy a Harley and we’ll terrorize Happy together.”
Brody stepped closer, penning her against the truck door. She put both hands on his chest with intentions of pushing him away, but she made the mistake of looking up into his eyes. Lashes slowly closed to rest on his cheek bones and she barely had time to moisten her lips before she was swept away by a scorching hot kiss.
She knew she should push him back, but instead her arms went around his neck and she touched his bottom lip with her tongue. He groaned and opened his mouth, deepening the kiss into fiery hot passion. She would have been there until daylight, but he finally stepped back, picked up her hand and kissed her palm twice.
“One kiss for the Lila I remember, and the other for the woman that she’s become. Both are very special.” Then Brody turned and disappeared into the darkness.

Blast

Josie could hardly take her eyes off Deke’s strong arms as he carried a pile of wood the short distance from the box to the fireplace. To have those arms around her, to cuddle up next to him on one of those bunk beds—she shook her head to get the picture out of it and reached for the tin box of matches on the mantel.
“How many do you need?” she asked.
“Just one,” he answered.
“Confident, aren’t you?”
“Not confidence, just practice, ma’am.” He got the fire going with the first one.
“Impressive,” she said.
“We’ll get it warmed up in here soon enough.”
Josie sat down on the sofa facing the fireplace and took stock of the little cabin. A set of bunk beds covered the wall to her right. A doorway into a bathroom was to her left along with crudely made bookshelves with about a hundred well-worn paperback books. A deck of cards was in the middle of a card table with a couple of folding metal chairs on either side. A second table was fitted into the small corner from the end of the bunk beds to the wall and another oil lamp had been placed in the middle of it.
“We’ll survive,” Deke said.
“Who are you trying to convince? Me or you?” Josie asked.
“Both of us. It’s better than freezing to death in our vehicles. Lord, I wish I would have turned around and gone right back home when the first snowflake hit,” he answered.
“Me too.” She threw one arm over her head and groaned.
“Top or bottom?” Deke asked.
“Well, now that depends on lots of things,” she said before she thought.
Deke whipped around, his eyes big as silver dollars. “What did you say?”
She blushed and quickly covered her blooper. “I don’t care. I could sleep right here. Maybe I’ll wake up to find this is all a dream.”
“Okay then, I’ll take the bottom bunk. Rascal gets restless if he’s not sleeping right beside the bed on his blanket or else on the foot of it. And darlin’, if you wake up and find this is a dream, don’t leave me behind.”
“No way, cowboy. You are stuck with me for the duration of this damned storm.”
“And you, darlin’, are stuck with me.

Wicked Cowboy Charm
Wicked Cowboy Charm by Carolyn Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you love hot cowboy romances, then you will love the Lucky Penny Ranch series. Hot cowboys and strong women! Carolyn Brown gives the readers stories with characters that you get to know and feel as if they are your friends. I loved this series!

Wicked Cowboy Charm by Carolyn Brown is book number four in the Lucky Penny Ranch series. This is Deke and Josie’s story. Yay! Deke gets his story!

Deke has never had a relationship. He only does one-night stands. Deke really wants a family like his friends but hasn’t found that one yet. Well, that is until he meets Josie. I thinks Deke has met his match with her. I loved Deke and Josie’s characters. Boy, Josie was one tough cowgirl!

Deke and Josie end up stranded in a blizzard in a one room bunkhouse. Boy, you could feel the sexual tension between them. It was fun watching them develop a real relationship.

FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Merry Cowboy Christmas
Merry Cowboy Christmas by Carolyn Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! This is my favorite of the Lucky Penny series! Carolyn Brown hooked me again. I loved this book!

“Merry Christmas Cowboy” by Carolyn Brown is book number three in the “Lucky Penny” series. This is Jud Dawson and Fiona Logan’s story.

Jud is one special cowboy! You can’t help but fall in love with him. Fiona is going through some rough times. Jud is perfect for Fiona. Will they take a chance on love?

I don’t know how Carolyn Brown does it but you feel a connection to her characters. The characters become your friends. I loved the side story of Dora June and Truman.

I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it. It was worth the lack of sleep! Loved it. If you love romances with cowboys, ranches, and Christmas, then you will love this book.

If you haven’t read any books in this series, you are missing out. Plan on a reading marathon because you will not be able to put any of the books in the series down. “Wild Cowboy Ways” is book one. “Hot Cowboy Nights” is book two. “Merry Christmas Cowboy” is book three.

FYI, includes mature content. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Forever (Grand Central Publishing) in exchange for an honest review.
