Last Wish by Erin Butler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
“Last Wish” by Erin Butler is book two in the “Remembering Kyle” series. I hadn’t read the first book in this series, “How We Lived”, and I think I would have had a better understanding of the book from the beginning if I had read it. This is Ronan and Em’s story.
Ronan has been all messed up since his best friend Kyle died. He hasn’t really been living and when sees Em all grown up he is really attracted to her. Em is friends with Kyle’s sister Kelsey so he feels that she is something he can’t have. Em has issues that she is dealing with and hasn’t confined them to her friends. Situations put Ronan and Em together.
This story covers some deep issues such as the death of a friend that was caused by another friend’s mistake and domestic abuse.
Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I felt that it was for a younger group, but with content for a mature audience. At times the characters seemed immature, but other times they acted very mature for their age, especially with such deep issues that they were dealing with. FYI, contains mature content.
I have received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Entangled Publishing, for an honest review.
