Played by Clare James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Entangled Publishing/Entangled Brazen for an honest review. “Played” by Clare James is book two in the “Elite PR” series. “Played” can be read as a standalone. FYI, contains mature content. This is Melody Sharp and Aaron Major’s story. Melody works for a PR firm and has recently been demoted. She is struggling to make ends meet financially among other issues in her life. Aaron is a country music star that is trying to make a comeback. He wants a fresh start with his music career since he messed it up the first time with drugs, alcohol, and women. Aaron and Melody are neighbors and both are attracted to each before they actually meet. Melody is having one of her lowest moments and Aaron comes to her rescue. The chemistry between them is extreme. They end up working together, helping each other as they understand that everyone deserves a second chance. Will they be able to overcome the demons in their past? Also, they have a rule, their relationship will be strictly business. Guess how that goes? The book started off slow and I had a hard time connecting with Melody but as the story continued I liked her character better. I did enjoy watching the characters change as they moved toward bettering their lives. Aaron’s brother, Graham was introduced in this book and I really liked his character. I hope the next book in the series is about Graham.
